Painters Ascot

Ascot is defined by its pre-war housing — elevated timber Queenslanders with wide verandahs and ornate fretwork, set well back from wide, tree-lined streets on large blocks. Council's traditional building character overlay covers much of the suburb, so the older homes are protected and most work here is renovation and extension rather than replacement. Contemporary apartments have grown through the suburb alongside them.
